June 8, 2024, marks the 8th anniversary of Jordan Jones passing.
For those who may not know, Jordan’s story inspired me to start the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation after his initial diagnosis with late-stage testicular cancer at the early age of 13.
Three months into his treatments we were told he was inoperable - that it was impossible to remove the tumors in his abdominal area that wrapped around his kidneys and aorta. But, we never accepted “no” as an answer. Eventually, more than 6 pounds of tumors were successfully removed.
After 7 surgeries and 3 additional cycles of chemotherapy, Jordan made a full recovery and was back on the football field throughout his high school years.
Unfortunately, after seven years cancer-free, Jordan relapsed and passed away on June 8, 2016, surrounded by his closest family and friends.
Today is June 1, 2024 - just 8 days until the 8th anniversary of Jordan passing. It is because of Jordan’s story that TCAF was founded in 2009.
The number 8 always held special significance for Jordan and continues to hold special meaning for those who knew and loved him. The number 8 appears in the timeline of Jordan’s life in remarkable ways - too often and too profoundly to be mere coincidence. To us, the number 8 is never random; It is sacred.
Jordan Jones was born on November 8, 1993, and passed away on June 8, 2016. He relapsed in 2015, the 8th year since TCAF was founded. We chose to celebrate Jordan’s life and remembrance on July 8, 2016.

The Deeper Meaning of 8
The number 8 holds powerful symbolism across many cultures and faiths.
8 is the number of new beginnings, resurrection, regeneration, and infinity. It is known as the great karmic equalizer.
It represents everything infinite: infinite love, infinite supply, infinite energy, infinite time. In this way, 8 symbolizes complete and unending abundance.
The number 888 is considered the ultimate symbol of the Lord himself. According to the Bible, 8 has very special significance for God. He chose the 8th day to mark the beginning of a new week.
Everything that has a new beginning in the Bible is often associated with the number 8. It’s even referred to as the personal number of Jesus—when the numerical values of the name “Jesus” are added together in Greek, the total is 888.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ occurred on the 8th day—the ultimate new beginning. Biblically, 8 signifies resurrection and regeneration. It is 7 plus 1: the end of something and the beginning of something new.
Gondola #8 - During a trip to Telluride for my daughter’s wedding, we were reminded of Jordan's presence. We must have seen the number 8 gondola a dozen times.

Jordan passed away in the 8th year of the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation.
What day do we choose to honor jordan’s life?
After Jordan’s passing, my daughter Breanna and I decided to honor Jordan’s memory on the 8th of the month, to our surprise, Breanna discovered a donation of $888 that had been made the previous day.
It was from Tara Morris, a sibling of a survivor, and came with this message:
“This donation is in honor of Jordan Jones. The 8's signify Jordan’s birth, his passing on the 8th day, and the meaning of the number 8, which is the great karmic equalizer, a force that just as easily creates as it destroys. When the 8 comes knocking, you can be assured that you will reap what you have sown. 8 balances the material and immaterial worlds. At its best, it is as spiritual as it is materialistic. I believe Jordan was that number 8 during his fight with cancer.”
Tara Morris has continued to generously donate $888 every single year since Jordan’s passing.

The number 8 continues to have immense significance and sacred meaning in our lives.
I truly believe that we are eternal beings - that the spirit of those whose bodies have gone before for us continue to live amongst us.
The number 8, or sometimes multiple 8’s, continues to appear at unexpected moments, reminding us that Jordan is with us every day.
