Introduction
TCAF Connect ("the app") is published by the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation ("TCAF," "we," "us," or "our"). The app is a free educational resource for people affected by testicular cancer, including patients, survivors, and their loved ones.
We designed TCAF Connect to be private by default. We do not collect, store, sell, or share any personal information about you.
The short version
We do not collect personal information.
There are no user accounts and no login.
There is no analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
We have no server that receives your data.
The only permission the app may request is notifications, used solely for optional on-device reminders that you control (a monthly self-exam reminder and a reminder for TCAF's monthly virtual event).
Information we collect
None. TCAF Connect does not ask for, collect, or transmit your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos, health information, or any other personal data to us. Because the app has no accounts and no back-end server of its own, there is nowhere for your personal information to be sent or kept by us. Some optional features save a small amount of information only on your device — see "On-device features" below.
On-device features
Some features let you save a small amount of information only on your device. None of it is ever transmitted to TCAF or anyone else, and it is removed if you delete the app.
Self-exam reminder. You can optionally turn on a monthly reminder to perform a testicular self-exam and choose the day and time. If you enable it, the app asks your device for permission to show notifications. Your chosen day and time, and the reminder itself, are stored only on your device (in your phone's own notification system). You can turn the reminder off at any time in the app, or revoke notification permission in your device settings.
Event reminder. You can optionally turn on a reminder for TCAF's monthly virtual gathering (The Ball Room). Like the self-exam reminder, it uses your device's notifications and is scheduled entirely on your device.
Self-exam tracker. If you use the self-exam tracker, the dates you log and the badges you earn are saved only on your device so the app can show your history and progress. This information is never sent anywhere.
App preferences. Small settings — such as your acknowledgement of the medical disclaimer — are also stored only on your device.
Third-party services
The app itself does not collect data, but two ordinary internet interactions involve third parties. We do not control these third parties, and their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies.
1. Content delivery (Google). To display the current podcast episode list and the peer-mentor directory, the app downloads publicly published files hosted on Google's servers. As with any request to load a web resource, Google's servers automatically receive standard technical information (such as your device's IP address, the time of the request, and your device/browser type) in order to deliver the file. The app does not attach your identity to these requests. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles such information.
2. Links to other services. The app contains links that, when tapped, open outside the app — for example podcast platforms (YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts), a care center's email or phone number, TCAF's website, and other resource pages. When you follow one of these links you leave the app and are subject to the privacy practices of that other service. The map, self-exam guide, and video content are built into the app and do not make network requests.
3. Sharing and email. Some screens include a "share" or "email" button — for example, to share a self-exam reminder or an awareness badge, or to email a peer mentor (with a suggested subject line). These use your device's own share and email features: the app hands a suggested message to whichever app you choose, and you decide what to send and to whom. The app does not access your contacts and never sends anything on your behalf.
Permissions we may request
Notifications — only if you choose to enable a reminder (the monthly self-exam reminder or the monthly event reminder). Optional and used solely for those on-device reminders.
The app does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or health data.
Children's privacy
TCAF Connect is intended as a general educational resource. Because the app does not collect any personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data security
Because we do not collect or transmit your personal information to us, there is no personal data held by TCAF that could be exposed. Any information the app saves (such as your reminder settings, the self-exam dates you log, and your disclaimer acknowledgement) stays on your device and is protected by your device's own security.
Your rights
We do not collect or hold personal information about you, so there is generally no personal data for you to access, correct, delete, or transfer. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the app or on our website. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
